長いので結論だけ言うと二つのヴィオランタは関係ないみたい。これだけのマニアがそういっているのだったらきっとそうなんだろう。

This is not difficult:

A Swiss movie director, 'A', used in one of his films, 'B', Marietta's lied in the Lehmann/Tauber version. Apart from the movies, 'A' also did some opera staging direction. We can admire his work in a DVD of a fantastic opera, 'C', that is not as well considered as it should be. Among other things, because it was composed between 'D' and 'E', two summits of the genre.

In this DVD we can listen to baritone 'F', that also sung the role of Frank/Fritz in Munich, city where it was premiered an opera by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, 'G', that just by coincidence shared title with one of 'A''s movies.

Working on it.

Director A is Daniel Schmid.
Korngold's opera G is Violanta

Schmid directed Lulu, Il Trovatore, I Puritani, Guglielmo Tell, Barbe-Bleue, Beatrice di Tenda, and Linda di Chamounix.

Baritones in his DVDs:

Barbe-Bleue, Jean Philippe Lafont
Lulu, Franz Ferdinand Nentwig
Guglielmo Tell, Antonio Salvadori
Linda di Chamounix, Giorgio Zancanaro
I Puritani, Jeffre Black
Il Trovatore, Giorgio Zancanaro
Beatrice di Tenda - Michael Volle

Well, Il Trovatore could be Opera C, since it was composed between Rigoletto and La Traviata. But it is not exactly poorly considered, is it? So I'll keep examining all possibilities.

Mmmm, wait. Violanta has no character named Frank or Fritz. But then, neither does Der Ring des Polykrates, the other Korngold opera that premiered in Munich.

So it doesn't seem like you're referring to a character in the Korngold opera, but some other opera.

What Frank/Fritz is that? The Fritz of L'Amico Fritz is a tenor role.

Still working on it... Of these baritones, the only one with a certain fame is Giorgio Zancanare. Which isn't very helpful to get to opera C, since he was both in Il Trovatore and Linda di Chamounix, and the latter can arguably be also said to be in-between two more famous works, La Fille du Régiment, and Don Pasquale. So C could be either Il Trovatore or Linda di Chamounix.

Back to Frank / Fritz. There is a Frank in Die Fledermaus, and a Fritz in Der Ferne Klang. Frank is a baritone but Fritz is a tenor. So we need to see if Giorgio Zancanare has sung Frank in Munich. Unlikely. He was a Verdi baritone. Almost all his roles were Italian roles.

I'm still puzzled with Frank/Fritz and don't know what character you mean by these.

I'll never say La Fille and Don Pasquale are "summits" of the genre. On the other hand, Il Trovatore is certainly very well considered.

Frank/Fritz is a double character in the most popular opera by Korngold, usually (but not always) sung by the same baritone. Our man had also sung the role of Dr. Schön in Lulu, but he is not named Franz Ferdinand...

Oh my God, how did I miss this? Of course Frank-Fritz are in Die Tote Stadt! I knew that, and somehow it slipped out of my mind!

OK, Michael Volle has sung Dr. Schön at the Royal Opera House. So it's Beatrice di Tenda. Between Norma and I Puritani. Now the only thing left, is what movie from Schmid features Marietta's lied. It must have been La Paloma.

Solved!
